2006 Cooking Resolutions
The reason why I’ve been so quiet on this blog is because I’ve been thinking lately about how much time I spend in the kitchen. One day at the bookstore, skimming through the cookbooks, I picked up Sandra Lee. OK, you’re saying, Sandra Lee? Yep. Listen guys, she makes a lot of sense. If my family can’t tell the difference between a tub of Cool Whip and the organic cream I whip by hand, why should I spend time slaving for hours over dessert when orange jello, canned fruit, and a dollop of Cool Whip satisfies my family’s tastebuds?
So over the last few months, I’ve stopped making bread. I’m getting pretty used to the Pepperidge Farms white — especially when I slather it with margarine and sprinkle it with white sugar, you don’t really taste the chemicals at all. I quit our CSA — no one around here eats vegetables, except for me, and the frozen stuff is cheaper. And since we need the money, I’m considering selling my Kitchen Aid stand mixer and maybe getting a bigger freezer for convenience food. I’m really just too busy with work to make dinner anymore.
What do you guys think? Would you mind if only posted when I felt like making one of Sandra Lee’s recipes now and then? If she’s too loathesome, I could try Rachel Ray.
